Foundation of Our Faith

As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”

— 1 Peter 2:4-6
  • We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Hebrew Scriptures (Tanach) and the New Covenant (Brit Chadashah), is the only infallible and authoritative Word of God, and is the foundation for our faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
  • We believe in one Creator God (Elohim), as declared in the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4 and Mark 12:29-31), eternally existing as a compound unity (echad) of The Father (YHWH/Yah), The Son (YHWH/Yeshua), and The Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) as revealed in passages such as Proverbs 30:4, Isaiah 44:6-8, Isaiah 48:16-17 and Luke 3:22.
  • We believe in the deity of Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus) as the promised “Seed of a Woman” in Genesis 3:15. We acknowledge His immaculate birth as a sign to Israel of His Messiahship, as prophesied in Isaiah 7:14 and 9:6, and as testified in John 1:1-14 and Philippians 2:5-11.
  • We believe in the sinless life of Messiah, His miracles both past and present, His substitutionary atonement on the cross for our sins, His bodily resurrection and appearance thereafter in Jerusalem (Luke 24:39-40), His ascension (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17), His promised future return for believers in Yeshua, both living and dead, and the establishment of His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven (Luke 10:8-11 and Acts 2:23-33).
  • We believe in the deity and present ministry of the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh), through whose indwelling the believer is empowered to walk in righteousness (Ezekiel 36:26-27, Joel 2:27-29, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, Galatians 4:6).
  • We believe that all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and that the penalty of sin is death (Romans 6:23). That Yeshua died to pay the penalty for sin (Romans 5:8) and those who repent and confess Yeshua as The Messiah shall be saved (Romans 10:9-10, 1:16).
  • We believe that the only way to be cleansed from sin and gain salvation is by grace alone through faith in the shed blood of Messiah Yeshua, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit (Leviticus 17:11, Ephesians 2:8-9, Hebrews 9:27-28).
  • We believe in the resurrection of everyone, the saved to everlasting life and the unrepentant to judgement and separation from God into the Lake of Fire (Daniel 12:2, Matthew 25:46, John 3:16-18, Revelation 20).
  • We believe in the immersion (tevilah) of believers in water, as commanded by the Scriptures, as an outward sign of being saved and born again, symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection into newness of life (Romans 6:3-7; Matthew 3:16; 28:18-20). Immersion is not necessary for salvation but rather is an act of obedience and public profession of faith in Messiah Yeshua (Acts 2:38, 8:35-38, 10:47-48).
  • We believe in obedience to the whole Word, including the Torah commandments and teachings of Messiah, who did not come to abolish the Torah, and declared that it will remain in effect until heaven and earth pass away (Matthew 5:17-19). This includes following the instructions on keeping the seventh-day Sabbath holy and resting from our work (Hebrews 4:9), abstaining from unclean foods (Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14), and observing His feasts and holy days as both annual memorials and prophetic rehearsals for future fulfillment (Leviticus 23 and Colossians 2:16-17). Obedience to The Word is not a means by which we are saved but is evidence of our faith and love for God (James 2:14-26, 1 John 2:3-6, and 1 John 5:3).
  • We believe that everyone has an inheritance in the family of God through faith in Yeshua (John 1:12-13 and John 3:16). Jewish people, according to their lineage from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who place their faith in Yeshua, have not disowned or separated themselves from their race and Jewish heritage, but are now true sons and daughters of Israel (Romans 2:28-29, 1-16, Romans 11) and the rest of Israel and the nations will also be restored by faith in Yeshua (Genesis 22:15-18, Isaiah 56:6-7, Ezekiel 37:15-28, John 10:11-16).
  • We believe that as followers of Messiah, we are called to share the truth of the Word and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20.) Loving our neighbors includes following His example of boldly proclaiming the truth while showing compassion and grace to all those we encounter, even our enemies (Matthew 5:44). Regarding others as more important than ourselves (Philippians 2:3), we must be willing to serve our community and be a blessing to those around us by sharing our resources and time, bearing the burdens of one another and praying with people. How we treat the least of them is equated with how we treat Messiah and if we love Him we should feed His sheep (Matthew 25:40, John 21:17).
